But hey, I'm just so sure that 285 SLI could make up that 54fps gap since it's in no way comparable to a 295.

This is going to be a very long thread until we have some solid GF100 benchmarks!

GTX 295 = -36%



GTX 295 = -44%

But I'm sure that 285 SLI would be able to close both of those gaps to 10%...

Hell, even a single 5870 beats the GTX295 in those benches.

Look... I too found a Benchmark where the GTX295 is better then the ATI 5970...



look at every benchmark except the 4 you posted and you will notice GTX285 in SLI is about the same speed as a ATI 5970...

hehe.

P.S. I'm sure if I had time to look around I would find a couple of benchmarks where a GTX295 or a SLI GTX285 setup is faster then the ATI. now what?

If Nvidia allowed ATI to use PhysX, I would have dual ATI 5970's right now. So I too don't have any tinted glasses... - just black.

The point is to find games that are graphically intensive to do your comparison with since we're discussing cutting-edge hardware. Why should anyone expect a brand new card to really shine in games that already run over 70fps on prior hardware (GTX 275) like in your Wolfenstein test?

That's why I posted benches specifically of Crysis and the new Stalker, because they are the two most graphically intense games on the market and allow for a more accurate gauge of the strength of newer hardware. Need for Speed is also a newer title which can be demanding when you turn up the AA.

Sure, you'll see benches that show there's not much of a difference between 5970 and 295 or 285 SLI. But consider what it is that you're looking at and whether that game really utilizes the extra graphics power. Also, how do you rationalize the fact that some tests, like the Need for Speed tests at Hardocp, show the 5970 more than doubling the GTX 295 in performance?

The Ati doesn't offer me enough reason to go anywhere. And in every game mentioned... except crysis. If there is a difference it is only ~10% or less.

But by the same token: The Fermi wouldn't also.

Unless I can get 2 x Dual Fermi Boards and get my Min 60+ FPS in Crysis @ 1920X1080 4aa/16af. + keep PhysX for Batman AA 2
