Default nVidia memory leak

I use ubuntu 9.10, mounted with 4 PCIEX NVIDIA 8400 GS cards.
when running a player the kernel drains the whole available RAM, until the system freezes.
I use the 185.18.36 version driver, but I'l also tried the 173, and the latest 190, with same results.

any ideas?

Just wondering why you want to run 4 crappy cards in one pc? Try taking one or two out and see if the problem persists.

I've taken 2 cards out, now just playing to the 2 remaining cards. memory usage grows more slowly, but still grows.

I use 4 X servers, then I run 4 mplayers, one for each X.
no process is eating the memory, that leaves the kernel or driver.

I would check if another driver like nouveau or something generic would work for your setup, then determine if the problem still exists.

the nouveau driver is experimental and crashed my system. I need to use the nvidia driver anyways, since i want to output the video through the S-Video connector.
