So you're saying that Bioware can only develop RPGs? They are not allowed to make a game of another genre?

I'm saying that his criticism of the ammo system is baseless. Frankly I don't care about the clips and don't find it annoying, but to each his own.

I'm not sure I understand your point. He said there aren't many guns compared to most shooters, most shooters have about a dozen or so...which as you clearly pointed out, this game has. What does a lack of stats have to do with anything? We're talking in terms of Mass Effect 1, which also didn't have stats.

It's more like a copy of the first one, only with different people.
What are you talking about? I don't think anyone said this game was a straight-up RPG.

The relationships work exactly the same in this game as KotOR or any other Bioware game, what are you talking about?

+1

Getting now 60fps at the Lab of Normandy (previously, i was getting 40fps with the "080100C5" flag) @ 1600x1200 + 16xQAA + Max Details

I'm loving the Edge Detect 12xSSAA on my 5870, although I get some slow down in the cutscenes. Gameplay is fluid though. Regular MSAA doesn't anti-aliase textures, so the lettering for floor and section names on the wall in the Normandy are jagged as hell even with MSAA. Supersampling makes this go away.

Also, has anyone experienced black bars behind some of the subtitles?

When I hear Bioware, I feel like massive talking and hours of speech in games. Plenty of Quests and STATS which I can level myself. (Morrowind had TONS of stats but everything was automatic)

The only difference I notice between Mass Effect 1 and 2 is the ammo. Nothing feels different to me when it comes to the amount of action, the conversations, the characters, and the interactions with those characters. I'm not getting stuck in furniture or walls. I'm putting up with poor performance and frequent crashes because of wine and I'm still having a great time. It's hard to put down. I've been late to work for the past few days because a quick 15 minutes of play in the morning turns into 45.

I couldn't figure out how to import my character from ME1 when I first started playing, but I think I have it working now and I look forward to immediately replaying if/when I finish this one to see how the game will change with my previous decisions brought in.

Maybe you need to play on higher difficulty to see that.

No he didn't. He's saying they turned it into a shooter and it has less guns, than the first one, which is true.
Without stats, you can't tell what is better and how.

First one was an RPG and this one is still being presented same way or it is in most of the reviews I've read so far.

You sure about that? I never maxed everyone in one playthrough of KotOR 1/2. In ME2, you have to talk maybe 6-7 times to everyone and suddenly you're BFF's with everyone. You can't lose them over a decision, that they don't agree with, they just don't care.

I'm having trouble believing that ATIs SSAA implementation really works or is true SSAA. I haven't had time to test it but I don't think it's working correctly - someone here on this forum was reporting over 100 FPS in Crysis with 16xSSAA lol
I know they are two different things, thats why I referred to them separately. I'm running 12X Edge Detect AA using the Super Sampling AA method. I'm thinking that they are definitely cutting a lot of corners in the SSAA as a real 12x SSAA would absolutely murder framerate, but it smooths out transparent textures and reduces shimmering much better than the MSAA mode, which is all I care about.

If ammo is your problem, then you arn't utilising your tech attacks nearly enough. They have unlimited ammo, use them on all cooldowns. It also means you won't get anywhere if you slowly purchase ranks in all your techs at once. You need to focus on 1 main and 1 sister ranks (purchase a 3rd rank 1 attack for utility if you want).

Because of this, I also really like the relationship system used. Most games like this would base your relation ship with a person by how long you group with them. This encourages you to build a team of 3 that can do it all. Now You can set everyone up to do specific jobs and mix/match your team to better suit the mission.
