Running the 195.30 driver in my 32bit enviroment now and... it's stable, been up for about 5 hours which breaks all previous 64bit attempts, I've even spent those 5 hours doing stuff that on and off required the gpu (some 3d, vdpau).

Running 32bit without PAE now, gonna try with PAE and see if it's related to > 3gb address space.

//with pae all last night + 5 hours today, rock stable. It's either a 64bit issue or something that was fixed in the time it took me to install and upgrade + boot my 32bit install.

mmm,

I remember having the same problem when I installed a wrong version of the flash plugin (a 32bits in a 64 system) the first time I set up my system. Right now I'm very stable in a 64bit OpenSuse 11.2 + 190.42. But I've not been able to update any of my packages without creating unstabilty.

Maybe something in the updates I was doing installed wrong architecture versions of the packages. Which is most likely since the error I'm getting is a linkage one...

32bit 2.6.33 kernel latest beta driver is unstable as hell, hanging with nvrm xid errors, the 64bit kernel is unstable as hell crashing without a backtrack.

Hoping the bugfixing they are doing to solve nvrm xid in 32bit will resolve the 64bit issues, although I part of me doubt they are related.

I have gtx260M, 32 bit system, kernel 32 and the card is "working" in the same way with the last stable nvidia-drivers or the beta 195.*

There are for me two main (and BIG) problem:
-the first is exposed here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=141116 and is about the switching to 3D frequencies.

-Second, when I start the laptop with battery power (even if later I plug the power supply, the card doesn't switch from Battery to AC despite the ACPI is working good) the X is very unstable and when crash the error is:
[13640.620325] NVRM: Xid (0002:00): 6, PE0001

The second issue is not present when alimentation is plugged in at the system boot; the first persists.

All my bug-reports are in the thread reported above

Giovanni

Just tried hard rebooting the computer with the power in, and it's still unstable as hell in 64bit.

Your Xorg server 1.6.5 is showing neither DRI2 nor DRI modules being loaded.

My Xorg server 1.7.4 shows both DRI2 and DRI loading successfully.

DRI isn't needed for the nvidia driver.
