Default Twinview/Fedora 12/laptop - change resolution and/or font size after every login

I'm having a weird issue with Fedora 12 and my laptop. At work the laptop sits in a base station, which is hooked up to a monitor. At home the laptop isn't connected to a base station or a monitor. For some reason, X or the NVIDIA driver (Twinview enabled) doesn't properly detect when the monitor isn't detected, so the laptop's resolution is set quite low and the fonts are huge. At work the resolution of the laptop's screen is the maximum and the fonts are tiny. I have to reconfigure the fonts and/or the resolution everytime I log in. Any ideas why this might be?
