You repaired the MBR when you ran the repair disc, right?

This is also a good reality check: Get a backup of some sort for your data.

I try to backup anything I can but I haven't done a game save backup in months... and I had alot of stuff I was working on where my backups werent recent enough.

vin and Nekro, other then doing disk checks what else can I do to troubleshoot the system into figuring out why it happened?

This is why I never store my personal data on my windows drive, just in case. Every couple of weeks, I will run a virus scan and check for rootkits, then boot up into the recovery console to backup the registry. (C:\Windows\System32\config) [default/SAM/SECURITY/software/system/userdiff]

I dont know if windows 7 has a recovery console like the XP disk, but doing a FIXMBR followed by a fixboot at the console command prompt usually fixes a corrupt MBR.

Oh, i do remember that MS did release sort of a PE recovery environment for seven, but I dont know if it lets you do this.
