195.36.08 is the most recent NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release with support for the GeForce GT 240 (see e.g. ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...rtedchips.html). It does not include the fix Aaron referred to. However, the next 195.36.xx BETA driver release should.

It is quite frustating to replace a 8600GT card by a GT240 and have exactly the same 3D performance. I hope this new beta will come out soon. |

No, there's no ETA at this time. However, I hope a new BETA build will become available in the next few weeks.

Yes! :-)
The latest beta, 195.36.15 finally closes the huge performance hole that existed for GT240/GDDR5 cards... I can verify that with the new driver, the difference between Windows and Linux is now negligible. Thanks to everyone at NVIDIA that worked on this, and a thank you to the people that joined me in complaining about it :-) |

With the new driver overclocking or downclocking of RAM with nvidia-settings does not seem to work whereas GPU Downclocking/Overclocking does. Is memory really running at 1700 Mhz ?
With 195.36.15 3D performance in games is better than with 195.36.08 but not as good as I was expecting for memory running at 1700Mhz instead of 324Mhz. Come on we're close to a 100% working driver! |

Any news about the fan control? It's only mine that's still spinning at 100%?

I just bought a Palit GT 240 with GDDR5 and powermizer is not functioning in any useful way. Normally the performance level is stuck at maximum 550/1700 MHz GPU/memory despite using "adaptive" settings. The exception to this is when I resume from suspend to ram, it's stuck to the middle level settings of 405/324. I have to restart X to get back to the full clock speeds. As of right now, things would be better off without powermizer at all.

I got a GT240 with the fan running at 100% no change in speed at all. Driver is 195.36.24.
