I do agree that Compute and OpenCL is a very good option, now that it is finally possible to write code for it.
Happily it seems to be that many developers are making the change for it, although Cuda and C++ has some nice interest as well.

Absolutely true,but at least that i've heard of it,they aren't being protective to the point of ignoring that direct compute or OpenCL exists and can do the same things stream can in the end,and Nvidia marketing does keep pushing Cuda pretty hard no matter if in the longer run,GP-GPU computing can make a much larger impact when there's unified standards that works on all hardware.

What's keeping CUDA alive is that it was the first one out and there's a much more developed software infrestructure for it than either Direct compute or OpenCL,which are still in their first steps.

It's true,we are seriously off the main topic at this point,and i take my fair share of the blame here,but regarding the GTX 470 and GTX480,it seems we have to wait until Cebit to find out final clocks,and have a better clue then,at least when it comes to floating point,texturing and fillrate abilities.

It implies nothing other than the fcat it comes with a driver. Do a search for ATI OpenCL certified driver, nada. Not so for Nvidia. Again, CERTIFIED. ATI can't certify the driver, the group behind OCL does and they haven't done it yet. ATI submitted a driver back in November and it stil hasn't come back yet as CERTIFIED. They seem to move slower than a snail going up hill in the winter in a stream of molasses.
