If you take the text above in mind and then see that on the gaming side, 470 & 480 are on par and the 480 even faster than the highest single GPU's of ATI I must say Nvidia has done a good job, I'm sold A graphics card that takes you to a higher gaming level + GPGPU performance for applications, me like

That's what i've been thinking from the very start to be honest, ever since ATI launched the HD5*** series last september,Nvidia followed that one week later,by revealing the GP-GPU capabilities of fermi, without a single mention of it's gaming potential up until fairly recently,so it's given me the impression that it's primarily a GP-GPU,that also has the ability to run games above all else.

The overall focus of the card is based on that principle,so the question is,with Nvidia believing that the gaming market on the PC is going further down, does this mean that from now on,their focus on the gaming performance is no longer the highest priority anymore?

With DirectX getting its own GPGPU API in DirectCompute, some would argue Compute performance will be directly impacting game performance in the coming DX11 supported games.
Aside from PhysX which is already doing work on GPU.

There was an interview with the CEO (Jen-Hsun Huang) saying they were heavily looking into Tablets, Phones and netbook/notebook GPU's.

It seems they are more interested in doing "smaller" scale GPU's like the above mentioned than 11" Video cards that need 700W PSU's.

Well, there's always working with procedural rendering techniques, rather than always going with higher an higher resolution textures which are reaching their limits IQ wise, that end up using a huge load of video card memory just to store them there, and with shader power now having hit some pretty respectable performance numbers, maybe direct compute will start making it's mark in rendering shader intensive graphics effects..

Is this any good? Should be GTX 470 in SLI.

I got 32 fps on my tri sli 2 gb gtx285 setup at the same settings,so 2 gtx480 would be faster than 3 gtx285 at these settings.

I think its good.

At these settings it is imho very likely to run into memory limitations.

Someone desperately trying to make the 470 look better than the 5870?

Now I know why people steal catalytic converters off of vehicles. ATI needs them to make drivers

yeh.... for me alone the CUDA side of the fence is reason enough to stick with nvidia.

Stream isn't a competing technology in the GPGPU space by any stretch of the imagination.
