Default ATI Drivers?

So reading this forum make it sound as ATI Drivers are crap...

What problems are people running into?

I'm going to be buying Dual GTX480's or Dual ATI 5970's

But before I would buy the ATI (team red) what issues are people having?

I have a 5870, and except for the 10.1's which wouldn't allow my main monitor to shut completely off in standby, I've had no problems with any of the other drivers. They all work wonderfully. I honestly don't know why so many people hate ATI's drivers.

How about crossfire supports for new games?

Is ATI on it right away like Nvidia is?

Example: having Crossfire support before the game is released?

I have found the XF scales well in the games that I'm playing, MW2, AvP, BFBC2...just hope it will do well in Metro 2033

ATI have divided the Crossfire Profiles in a separate small easy to download file that can be updated as many times as necessary. In other words no waiting for WHQL or full BETA drivers to fix crossfire support. I don't think ATI would bother doing this if they didn't plan to keep crossfire profiles updated. I have had no issues with ATI drivers playing games.

Most complaining about ATI drivers are Nvidia boys who don't have the patience to learn ATI's control panel and expect it to function just like Nvidia's.

That's it in a nutshell.

I've owned a few more ATI cards over the years than I have Nvidia cards, and my experience is that while Nvidia's drivers may be a tad more polished (a few less bugs) they are very similar to one another. Not much difference between them.

lol I see on ati's tweets it says "Year of the recall?" with a link to the nvidia 196.75 driver articles. They must be having a field day between this and fermi.
