Sadly this is true and I really hope that both sony and microsoft are going with a more conventional design for their next generation of consoles. So until then I doubt we'll see anything like this in any games. Looking forward to 2012!

listen, until games get so realistic where you can bash someone's head in and the game simulates all the blood drops and gore parts i'm not interested.

+1

In this industry the games sells hardware and NV and Ati doesn't fight with consoles to get the developers interests.

Thanks for the explanation - I just finished Cryostasis btw so I know exactly what you mean.

I'm rapidly becoming very interested in what these cards will bring to the table.

I can already imagine the Elder Scrolls and Fallout mods...

I remember one Oblivion mod took some of Ren's hair mod and gave it a bone structure to animate with character motions and lay properly over armor and clothing. I don't think it was ever finished.

These tech demos demonstrate what the cards can do, but if such technologies were already used in a game, will the game really perform good on these cards?
Think of how many FPS you get when running one of those demos, then imagine what if it was implemented in current game, which has other things to render, would you really get decent performance?

What we see in these demos might only be implemented fully in games in a couple of years, and by then we will have much more powerful cards, which will run those games only decently, using a single GPU.

This is how its always been.

Its just a technology demonstration. We're just finally starting to see some of the features that were shown in the 8800GTX tech demos 3 1/2 years ago.

Their hair demo is quite nice, they do some heavy physics stuff in it.
