Yup, I connected some PCs at work yesterday and everything went fine. I don't really think it has anything to do with your ISP, saturnotaku, since several members had difficulties connecting windowsupdate during the last 2 weeks.

Default Update:

Per the suggestion from my ISP, I was able to connect and download all necessary Windows updates. The solution: turn off static IP at our firewall/router. While this indeed worked, it's not an acceptable long-term solution because my roommate and I are paying an additional fee for a permanent, static IP address.

I've also been informed that our ISP is going to be doing a major DNS upgrade in the next 10 days or thereabouts. Hopefull once it's installed and running, we can use our static IP with proper results.

So to anyone who's having trouble, try disabling any static IP addresses you have and go with that. It's not an elegant solution by any stretch but it's worked for me thus far.

It's Blaster.

Go to Start->Run->services.msc

go down to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

double click, go to Recovery

change all "Restart the Computer" to "Restart the Service"
