If I decided to go multi-GPU again, I'd just get a 5970. I could put that with the 5870 I own for Crossfire-X and it would be 300usd cheaper than getting two 480s.

Not disappointed at all. The GTX 480 performs well in almost every benchmark I've seen. Don't really care about power consumption nor heat as I would be water cooling it. The only problem that now remains is price. Overclockers.co.uk has them in stock for 448(that's 500). Now considering you could buy two 5850s for the same amount of money I find that very hard to swallow.
Guru3D's review was one of the best as they had the most diverse set of games and were hawk-eyed enough to notice that the Dirt2 timedemo only ran in Dx9 mode on the GTX 480.
Think I'll stick with my 5850 and wait for the 32nm part!

I am very disappointed. From the hype, I had been expecting something going from the Geforce 7x00 to the 8x00, with nearly double the per-card performance while using less power. Instead, we get roughly 15% to 20% more performance for what looks 20% to 30% more power and heat.

I think I wait for the next refresh to buy new cards.

Yeah that is what I was expecting. It's sad that some of the tests are only a few fps greater then what my rig would get (I use the GTX295 as a judge since its close in performance to SLi 260).

I watercool myself, but that heat has to go somewhere. If it's not being spun off a fan blade it's going directly into your watercooling loop and dispersing it amongst all your components.

I never like excess heat unless it's necessary. And in this case you have a similar product in 5870 that runs much cooler.

You guys are going to be surprised by how much new Nvidia card is faster then HD5870, it will surprise AMD/ATI. Good Job Nvidia on hiding numbers

You said that at 10:50 am. Shortly after that you said you already had one. I'm certain you are either a complete troll or multiple people use your account. Regardless, now that these cards are out your antics are going to get really old fast.

Or multiple personalities in one person?

Bottom line, competition is good and i hope AMD catches Intel as far as CPU goes. Speaking of Mobos AMD is on top of the game there.

I think the release of the GTX480/470 is going to end up pushing a bit of sales for AMD...i am sure i am not the only one who waited for the 4xx to come out before deciding to go for 5870 :O

Fingers cross nvidia next revision 49x/etc will be better
