Pre-ordered a single Gainward GTX 480 today. I have two 120mm fans, will point one on the heatpipes and one on the grill under the card... should be interesting how temperatures will be, if it won't bring it down enough (under 90C load) I'll probably get an aftermarket cooler I'm very excited, will be a sweet upgrade.

WTH - it reached 100c with the fan set to 100%? Yikes!

Hope they built these well or we'll start seeing dead GTX 480s everywhere. Still I think watercooling might be the only solution for SLI'd rigs with this one.

Surely at 100% fan it would not get that high...Could you maybe set it at 100% fan at idle and then stress the GPU to see the max temp recorded ?

Its just recently i set up a profile on rivatuner for my GTX285 fan speed. I have 80% fan kicking in way earlier than default driver version and have noticed a 15c drop in load temp since i did it.

I want to see more real world benchmarks, and to record temperatures while playing them. That's when I'll start worrying about how hot they get.

It's designed for CPU. You could get it to work with a gpu but all that heat going directly back in to the case can't be good. I don't think the rad is big enough either.

I got a Prolimatech MK-13 not sure if that'll be enough to cool a 480gtx without it sounding really loud.

That is/was my main concern....heat. I decided to go ATI after having NVidia for the last two generations for that reason.

Personally i'm going to try and get 2 of the EVGA with the factory watercooling blocks on. I have heard they are clocked at 750 on the core and run at 45 degrees under load.
