I want to go work in the mines. $3000 a week. $1000 a day if you work on a public holiday. |

Telstra call centre operator (more specifically Sensis 1234). For the sheer amount of stress and work conditions, it's a general concensus that we're underpaid. Call centre operators, unfortunately, have an extremely high suicide rate :S
Back on topic though, I'm tempted by the price of the 470, although I know the 480 is the far better performer. And you're dead right on the cheaper manufacturers Baboon. Can't wait to see their prices. |

no, he's wrong, minimum wage is about $400-$450 a week after tax.

$52k a year is an average wage for those who have found a stable full time job in Australia. A family supporting wage I call it.

Minimum wage is around $30k/yr or around 400-$450/w after tax.
I'm on 45k a year mainly because I don't live in a big city and anything over $800 for a video card is too much for me. The most I've payed would be $730 for my 6800 back in 2004.

I used to make about $5500 every 2 weeks, without overtime. Working a stat. holiday would get you $1000 easy. Seems like things are pretty much the same down there. Either way, the $689 I paid for my 8800GTX @ launch was way too much cash...

I can tell you EVGA tries to help out as much as they can (for Australia). Someone fairly high up at EVGA is Australian, so he does what he can. There are many factors into why the prices are so high over there that I unfortunately can not get into, but generally I don't put the the blame on EVGA (or other Video Card manufacturers for that matter), when it comes to launch prices...
