I don't see what everyone is moaning about, I play me2 on my netbook; Fraps says I get 0 fps but when I turn down the res a bit it goes up to 0 fps which makes the game look worse but its easier to play.

Hic is right that 30fps feels okay with analog sticks... 60 is better, obviously, but 30 is ok with sticks.

as long as frame rates are consistent i can cope with 20-25 for most games

True, 10 is pathetic, 24 should be the magic number. That is the "minimum ideal". Its been the refresh rate of old TV's for the last goodness knows how many years and it works quite well.
Games which can't do 30fps on consoles or old PC's should aim for 24 instead: assuming motion blur is used correctly. |

I think some engines react different to how frames are performing. for example I think that UE3 loose its butter feel when below 50-60. While some game go into slow motion when fps lowers (like Painkeller)

Crysis feels smooth as hell at 30fps to me, for instance.
Borderlands feels rough at anything below 50.

I get annoyed by fluctuations and anything under 60fps in fast paced games like left 4 dead.
Silent hill 5 was amazing and capped at 30 fps. Fallout 3 in some spots fell into the 20s but i dealt with it. Just 15 minutes ago left 4 dead fell below 60 and vsync capped it to 30. Hold the ****ing works. Lowered setting to get it back up to 60, that game needs it. Its all game dependent.
