Default simultaneous projector & WUXGA with QuadroFX700

Have a QuadroFX 700 on a Dell precision M60, running driver 1.0-4363 (since 1.0-4496 does not work as widely reported).

I am trying to have an external monitor such as a projector, which is typically a CRT with 1024x768, show the same screen as the WUXGA LCD of the laptop.

The best results so far I get when avoiding TwinView. The CRT/LCD key then toggles between internal LCD, external CRT, and both -- like one would expect. In the latter case, however, the WUXGA LCD shows only a small fraction of the screen, which is quite irritating when I am giving a talk and can't be looking at the projection all the time. And even for this scenario I have to start X with the laptop screen closed, which is hard, because I can't access the keyboard!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

running kernel 2.4.20-20.9 RH9

Well, it might not help a lot, but instead of closing the screen to start X, you could just press/hold the suspend button (probably just left of center above the top of your keyboard).

At least that way you could access the keyboard =)
