Default Re: Are you going to buy Fermi?

ATI's refresh is too close and the nVidia cards are just too hot, power hungry, and expensive for what I'd get from them.

I'll sit this gen out with my 8800 ultra and wait for the respins. IF rumors are true, it should be interesting. And usually respins/refreshes turn out better than the first gen of a new line (ie., GF to GF2, GF3 to GF4, R9700 to R9800, FX5800 to 5900, even 8800 to 9800).

DX11 is not prevalent enough and not even in the rare cases where it is used is it being utilized to any effect worth the expense of upgrading.

I do tip my hat to those glorious fools that put three of these 480's into one computer though. I salute you and wish you well into your incredible journey into the fiery heart of gamedom!

In fact, the cards seem to run cooler than my 295 did. On top of that, the 480 just seems more prepared for DX11 gaming which, considering I already owned a fast card (295), was a big part of my upgrade.

Anyway, I bought 2 480's and they will be here Tuesday. I'm still not sure if I want to mess with SLI again, so I may put the second card up on Ebay.
Where in hell did you find TWO 480's shipping in FOUR days?
ASUS?

As luck would have it i was checking out my Evga pre-order at Amazon and noticed that there were two PNY cards actually in stock. I bought one, posted the link at Evga for the second, and 15 minutes later it was still available so I bought it as well. They charged my card for both, and have a delivery date of the 13th.

I was hoping they would have Evga cards by then, but with PNY's new warranty I'm not too concerned.

Edit: Nevermind Newegg just sold out.

I just ordered two EVGA 480 GTX superclocked also. I had a chance to get a PNY version earlier but they only allowed one per customer. I am glad I waited since this is the version I wanted all along. Newegg already shipped my EVGA 760 classified along with a I7 930 and 6GB of Corsair Dominator memory. Next week is going to be a big one for me. I can't wait to finally play games like Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 with 3D Vision and not think twice about the performance.

should have my 480 tomorrow, but my luck I have to go in to work this saturday at 2pm, so unless it comes in the morning will have to wait to check it out my 280 died about a month and a half ago, itching to get back to pc gaming.

They are only getting 2 this week. Someone has already paid a deposit for the other one. So my second card will arrive the week after. I think I can be happy with just the one for a week.
