I don't have time to post bench marks, I'll get around to it mid next week. Overall I'm pretty happy with these cards

I was expecting a lot more noise, but its not bad at all..I would say it about the same or a little bit more than the 5870s, keep in mind that they're not in a case yet (out for powder coating)

I don't think the fans went over 60%...not sure about the temps but obviously its hot

The performance from what I could tell from the little I played was awesome....gone is the stutter in AvP and I'm able to play Metro with 4aa maxed with depth of field off and BC2 is playable @ 32xaa

It's nice to own Evga cards again, also cool to have adjustable profiles back.

I really enjoyed my 5870s the past five months...ATi have a awesome product, and by the look of things both company's futures are looking good for us gamers

I have nothing bad to say about ATi or their products, their drivers could be a little better but its good to see they're working on them frequently.

Props to ATi and NV for awesome cards....now bring on Crysis 2 and F3AR

You don't need to run games at 120fps for 3D Vision to work correctly. The shuttering to get the correct image to the correct eye and the actual performance of the game itself are essentially divorced from each other. Even if the game was only running at 60 frames per second or less, it would still shutter at 120Hz (60Hz per eye), and each eye will still only see the image it was intended to see.

Stalker COP Benchmark , AVG is not much higher , i had bunch of stuttering and short freezes on my GTX295 but not on GTX480.
Conclusion no SLI = less problems.

The "stuttering and short freezes" you were having on your 295 were most likely due to VRAM limitations and not SLI. The 480 has nearly twice the VRAM access (1536 vs 896), and Stalker uses a lot of it.

Thats some crazy min fps increase on the 480

after readings xion's comment yea, that would explain the increase in min fps. that would mean if the 295 had more memory it should have a better min fps considering the max fps is a lot higher on the 295...

Well that's general assumption, however the thing is on my second monitor i see how much VRAM is being used and never saw it use more then 700 MB. So unless GPUZ and sidebar-gadget reports false info... its not ram isssue.
And to clarify ,stuttering and short freezes were in that specific test not in all my games. Off course it could be driver/software/*insert any other reason here* issue.
From my personal observation while owning GTX 295 for a looong time , drivers break or fix suttering in various games.. so its natural to assume its SLI thing. Single GPU less problems.

There is no card out there that will guarantee that. Even 2 5890's will not give you a minimum 60FPS at maxed settings in every game. It's just not possible and that's not always the hardwares fault. Some games just have terrible coding.

2x GTX480 will be more than enough.

As for a mobo that can do Tri SLI plus a sound card, the EVGA Classified can.

I'm highly impressed with the minimum FPS on the GTX 480. Cannot wait for mine to get here tomorrow or the next day.

The biggest thing I miss about Nvidia (since I went ATI) is nHancer profiles (or profiles in general). I wish ATI would get it's act together in that respect.

Case in point : Age of Conan. There are multi GPU problems (using shadows) with both camps but using nHancer/profiles on Nvidia, you can get rid of them, on ATI, you can't

Here's hoping ATI release an equivalent and have fun with your new cards mate
