Can't wait
I'm hoping to get my first card tomorrow after work.

Even if the game was only running at 60 frames per second or less, it would still shutter at 120Hz (60Hz per eye), and each eye will still only see the image it was intended to see.
Um... when 3D Vision is turned on, and FRAPS says the fps is 45, when I press Ctrl + T to turn 3D Vision off in-game, the fps will shoot up to 75-80 or so. So with 3D Vision enabled, the fps is chopped almost in half compared to 2D. So if the game is running at 70fps with 3D Vision OFF, it will run pretty bad with 3D Vision on (high 30s). I tested it just now in Half-Life 2 so I don't see how what you're saying is correct.

So it seems games need to run at 100fps+ with 3D Vision OFF to prevent drops below 50fps with it on? Because when I press Ctrl + T to turn 3D Vision on, FRAPS fps changes instantly to being almost chopped in half and gameplay starts to get pretty choppy if fps is below 50.

Why only the first card? Did you place your orders at two different shops?
There are only 2 cards coming in this week. One Asus and one EVGA. More will follow next week. I grabbed the EVGA. Will get the other next week.

I guess I'll also get the first two Gainwards here. Ordered them like 3min after they showed up on the store's website
Even got a nice price reduction (total about $100) on them because the shop didn't know the exact price for the cards at that time
I am there best customer. They are pretty much the biggest PC company in New Zealand. They have special backing by the direct importer. I build all my mates PC's and constantly upgrade them ( sell of my old hardware)

When i want something, I just let them know and they get it for me without needing to pay a deposit. They also give me a discount on any hardware.

I wish we could still get Gainward down here. They still make some pretty cool gear. EVGA will be tops though. Nice discount you got though.

Gongrats. Nice upgrade.
Just wondering, did you run the Furmark at 800x600 res (guessing by the screen shot) in windows mode? Mike bench shows higher max temp in less than 2 minutes with 1440x900 window mode, fan speed 92% also his frame rates are lower than yours and his bench is showing MSAA 4X your setting shows MSAA 8X, just to compare.

What RPM are your 120mm case fans more noise than "Fan AUTO 67% ~2550rpm" graphic card?

I don't care much about the Furmark bench, not something I game on and the temps are also hot on ATI cards, but a lot depends on the setting. Try Full Screen 1920X1080, I guess your gaming resolution and lets see what the temps are.

LOL. I hope that he didn't run at 800x600 as that would be pointless.

Wink Re: Official "I just got a Geforce GTX 470/480" thread

I am pretty sure resolution doesn't increase heat be it 800x or 1920x , GPU is working same 99% utilization under furmark, it was full screen 800x600 8xaa, that was set by default i guess.

Anyways since you guys want it so bad here is full screen 1920x1080 same temps within margin of ambient , fan speed 69% according to Everest .

And picture of my case setup , and yes GTX 480 is not loud at 69% , i didn't see it reach anything higher then 69% furmark, games are lower.
Also one more same settings mike did windowed.

....

And i see level of arrogance is sky high

I can see those results with that case, you have some serious airflow going on there. Probably pulling in 300 CFM. Looks like its insulated against sound too, but damn, delta fan on the CPU? I used to have 2 of those in the front of my old school case, those are loud SOBs. That was when I had it under the desk in a cabient though, so it wasn't too bad.

Yep noisy as hell but not all of them i went throu few deltas and some san ace , from 3000->2800->2600-> to finally 2100 hit the sweet spot that i could tolerate ,no whining noise just "shhhh" wind noise , almost same noise as my scythe 1900rpm slipstreamer, had one ace RPM controlled but once you throttled it down to 2100rpm it made lame noises, love this fixed speed however.
Now that i think about it , its not realy worth it , replacing it with 1600rpm would suffice , only linpack/prime gets cpu hot enough to need so much air. Will be my next rebuild project.

All fans have dust collector's to, that cuts airflow somewhat but significantly less dust to worrie about, case is kinda ugly but meh.
Noise damping insulation was experiment , it helps but some noise still escape thro front panel so that idea didn't work to well :P probably not worth the cash.

Your original statement was that games were required to run at 120 fps with 3D Vision ON for it to work correctly, with an what I interpreted to be an implication that it had to match the 120Hz refresh rate of the 3D monitor. And I refuted that statement by saying that the game did not have to run at 120 fps with 3D Vision in order for the correct image to get to the correct eye. No where did I say that you didn't need good performance for 3D. Just that it doesn't have to run at a frame per monitor refresh for it to work correctly. If that wasn't your original meaning then I misinterpreted, but my point still stands that you do not need games to run at 120fps in 3D Vision for you to get the correct 3D effect.
