I haven't read many reviews of the 470 but that's what I picked up. It's not any louder than my 260 and only marginally hotter. I expected at least to have a lot more heat coming out of the back of the computer but that's not the case either... it's about the same as the 260.
You do need good a case with good airflow though. The 480 on display (which I'm guessing just naturally runs hotter) at the store isn't in the best case and the fan is at stock speeds and the temperatures reflect what many of the reviews reported: HOT. Then again I think an 8800GT would run pretty darn hot in that environment. At 55% fan speed the only difference between this card and my 260 is this card is noticeably faster ![]() Ordering my i7 upgrade this weekend. 2nd 470 soon to come ![]()

Haha, I just started up Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, and got this message:
Unknown Video Card. Your video card does not appear in our database... and then gave me an option to upload details about my video card. Looks like the 480s haven't even been recognized by Valve as video cards yet.

Guru3d got their 470 to do around 726 on the core.
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...-480-review/34 Hardware Canucks had one going @ 721 on the core. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-31.html Tweaktown tested one @ a lower OC. http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/32...d/index13.html I'm thinking about replacing my GTX 260 in my second/alt computer with a 470. I'm curious what I can get one to do. Ya' I know it may OC like a dog and it will still be faster than the 260. I should have the 470 by the weekend and will have results shortly afterward.

Got mine yesterday and turned the core right up to 750 which now takes the shader right with it. No artifacts, no temp issues with forced fan speed of 70% which isnt loud enough to bother me but DAYUM !!! At 100% it is the loudest pc component I have ever heard. It really sounds like a damn dustbuster !
I did notice that Batman lost some frames with high physx and max setting +4xaa at 1080p over my GTX280/8800gt combo. I am putting my 8800gt with the 480 when and rebench using batman and fluidmark when I get home in a couple of hours. Looks like a 2nd card for physx might still be a good idea. Now, if they would only release more physx games !

Got my 2 this morning, heat is NOT an issue, at least not for me.
I ran it through the STALKER COP bench and Unigine and I hit 82c max (this is before I even bothered with the fan profiles). One thing that is annoying is that whenever I get to the processor part of Vantage (CPU Test 1/AI Test) I get a win32k.sys BSOD. It's the only issue I've had so far. I'm now running it at 70% fan through the profiles in Afterburner and I don't go over 78c in AoC. That's in over 30 mins of playing ![]() |

I finally got around to putting that second 480 in and managed to run Heaven benchmark. Would have more stuff to post but I destroyed my middle finger on my right hand while pulling out the HD rack on my case, and I've been bleeding all over the place and just got it stopped. Anyway, with just one 480 in my case the idle was between 42-44c. With two cards it's 45c and 41c. Heaven hit a top temp of 83c with the single card, with both I got temps of 85c and 81c both at 79% fan speed. Not too shabby for my cramped and badly wired case. Here is my Heaven bench: ![]() Typing is a bitch with one hand, but I'll post some more stuff later. ![]() |

If anyone is interested, MSI afterburner with GTX 480 voltage adjustment is available.
No 470 support yet. Afterburner 1.6.0 Beta 4 http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner...up160Beta4.rar

And here I thought that Nvidia was the bigger company and had the most influence. Suddenly ATI is able to seep its way into every reviewer's pockets and get everyone to bad-mouth Fermi. You guys are a trip lately. I'm glad that your cards are performing well, but put the bong down.
