Wow, that's pretty crazy. What's the maximum drop and how often would you estimate that the game is running at least 60fps?

Also, if you have the time, could you please run the tests with the same settings as this

I just want to have some more info on your setup vs 2 480s.

Thanks!

Interesting results from this guy http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...70-vs-sli.html

Triple 5870s easily beat two 480s in most cases and even three 480s. The 480s just didn't scale as well in a 3-way config. I kinda want to get a 3rd 5870 and experiment now. I'd never use 3-way 5870 on the current mobo though since that means I'd have to sacrifice hardware PhysX.

Immature drivers bro. Give nvidia a little time to get the drivers sorted out and it WILL improve alot I guarantee it. Amd has had over 6 months to improve theirs.

No it's at 8QX AA. Whats the Q mean I'm done with testing, I'm just going to enjoy the cards in gaming now.

Hey Fasedww have you run the stonegiant demo yet? Maybe you did and I missed it earlier on in the thread. Anywho, I just installed and ran it a few times, woowaa pretty slick demo imo. At my native res 1080P tess on high with dof ff avg of 173fps, not bad . I would imagine with your OC's on your cards you would do better. Post up what you got when you get a chance.

Meh. Fermi was originally set to release Nov of last year. Considering that, they've had plenty of time to tweak the drivers already. They'll improve.. as drivers always do, but don't expect it to be a night/day difference in performance from what you see now.

Nice benches. And the guy had his i7 OC'd to 4.5GHz which helped. 2-card SLI seems to scale really well. Three are probably being held back by the CPU.

Interesting comparison? LOL, are you kidding me? The framerates shown in that link are ridiculously high, so even a single GPU is not getting stressed. Also, the fact that there is very little gain from SLI to Tri-SLI on the GTX 480 either indicates CPU bottleneck or that the drivers are not well tuned for Tri/Quad SLI.

The mere fact that these graphs don't shown minimum framerates and don't seem to stress the GPU at all (using more demanding games, or ultra high res, or ultra high AA) make them pretty useless.

Finally, the more appropriate comparison for Tri-Crossfire 5870 is Tri-SLI GTX 470. Tri-SLI GTX 470 has more raw horsepower than SLI GTX 480.

Sounds about right I averaged 173fps high tess at 1080P.

It's nice to think they have had all that extra time to fine tune drivers but I'm sure the driver team had alot of other things to do other than fine tune gtx 400 drivers. So I'm going to assume there still plenty of headroom to grow yet no matter when the 400 series was supposed to release.

Like what? They're not engineers; they're programmers, so they obviously weren't working on the 4xx architecture. And since the 200-series has been out for quite some time, those drivers were pretty much optimized.

Guess they could've all been sitting around playing poker or something.
