I think we're just seeing some folks who know how to cool their cases reporting lower temps. Reviews usually show the worst case scenario so as to protect the buyer. It's a "here's what could happen."

BTW, Hornington's customer support is very good, another reason to go eVGA, or Asus.

I always used Jumbo from Mong Kok as prices are reasonable and either way as I thought there are no after sales support after 7 days from any of these retail shop

How does Hornington's customer support vary? Will they send the part to the distributors etc?

I might have to shop with them if they have better after sales support

I have seen jumbo sell BFG stuff but, low end Geforce 2XX stuff

Yeah, Jumbo is good, but I usually prefer SSP to Mong Kok. I use Capital and Centralfield a lot.

Hornington's the distributor for eVGA, Asus, MSI, Corsair, Coolermasters, and bunch of other brands, and they have a store/showroom conveniently located in SSP as well. If anything goes bad after 7 days, you just take it to their support and repair center, and they will take care of the rest. A friend of mine had a Asus board with a burnt capacitor, and they diagnosed and fixed it for him in 30 minutes.

So far stock, it owns my OC'd 5870. Just Cause 2 20+ FPS faster on avg, BF BC2 a lot faster, COD MW2 also, a lot faster!!

If you plan on using afterburner let me know if it allows you to overclock and overvolt your gigabyte card. Can't use it on my gigabyte 470 for some reason

Nice. I was just going to write a post letting you know my experience of 1 480 vs 5870. If you can control the heat, it's really no contest. Not only is the 480 already faster at stock, its performance scales at almost 1:1 with an overclock. The 5870's architecture kinda tops out at stock 5870 speeds.

The main issue is heat. For some, I think it could be a pretty big issue. Even in my current ambient temp of 75f, I can feel my face getting warm at idle. It's pretty impressive that the 5870 can keep up with the 480 while being so much cooler. Using just 4xAA at 1920x1200, there isn't much difference between the 480 and 5870. The 480 is a little more consistent performer as the 5870 is more prone to hitching in smaller releases such as Stalker and Metro but in general, they're neck to neck. Where the 480 has a huge advantage is when you want to pump up the image quality. The 480 widens the gap considerably once you up the AA to 16x and add supersampling TRAA to the mix. So yeah, the 480 is the clear choice for a single GPU solution if you're able to control the heat.

Mine will be water cooled. Had some other projects to work on, but I should get it done in the next few days. Yea this thing rocks.

One problem I do have is that Crysis won't run full screen it crashes. Any thoughts?? Using the latest 197.55 drivers

If you change the shader clock how does that register on gpu-z? Also will it let you over-volt the card in afterburner?
