Conviction is a larger change in direction. More action take cover Gears of War style with many stealth elements and gadgets removed. Splinter Cell of old this is not and many fans have stated their disdain.

Got it. Ya, the big thing that put SC out there was the stealth. You could go through a whole level without firing a gun.

It's nowhere NEAR Gears of War, he is insane.
It is a lot more action focused, but it is still a stealth game at heart. Playing it as a third-person shooter like Gears of War will get you killed in seconds, on realistic anyway, I am sure normal mode is more forgiving but then why would you play on normal if you want the stealth experience? Look at it as action-stealth... they did away with the waiting in shadows stuff, but they added a lot of cover-mechanic stealth. Some levels require more action than others, but the best way to play the game, the way that keeps you alive in realistic mode, is to sneak around taking guys out one at a time while the rest search for you and flip out. It's kind of like Batman Arkham Asylum's stealth sections, only with a gun.

So far I like the game, its actually very good.
BUT... Looking at Splinter Cell Conviction and Assasin Creed 2, its hard to believe that both games are released by the same studio: Ubisoft Montreal. Here is why, comparing both games content wise, it feels like Assasin Creed 2 is at least 100 times larger game. With huge cities, tons of interactive enviroment, freedom, movement, you just get a lot more for your money with Assasin Creed 2. Another "dissapointment" is considering how small this game is compared to Assasin Creed 2, what took them this long to make this game? In my opinion they started out with larger ambitions, trying to match Assasin Creed 2 on scale, but then scrapped everything and gone with much smaller game.

It's like ice cream, it's still $4 or so, but instead of a half-gallon we get 1.5 quarts.

I felt the same way about Double Agent, but I love Conviction. It definitely has more action, but I went through most levels in a stealthy way.

Picked it up today from Target for $59. Ugh, hate the "new" price of PC games. No DRM issues and the performance is great maxed.

I am not a huge Splinter Cell fan but if this game is good in 3D Vision then I will probably get it.

that BS about 480 getting 15fps must have been made up by some red employees.
