Why buy a 470??? - Page 2

The next question is GTX275 or the 470? I'm referring to the 275/250 which has seperate core just for pysics.

Was I wrong? A simple "Yep your right" would have worked just as well. You got a snarky remark because you're about the one millionth 8800 user who claims the impossible.

Here is some more insight and wisdom for you, buying a 275/250 isn't smart. It's the same cost as a 470 and about half the speed.

I apologize but I have not read the 8 zillion other claims or I would have not posted that in my thread. I (ass)u(me)d because MW2 was running in 70's that BC2 was too. So I'm sorry it was way to early in the morning to be posting any coments. When u say half the speed I assuming u r talking about Processing cores? Because all the other Stats are higher then that of the 470. The only difference is the DX11 from what I'm reading. Even the Memory interface is better. Whats your feeling on the 260 seeing how the bottom fell out on prices?

If you don't want to spend the money on a 470 wait for the 460. Should still offer a lot more performance than your 8800gtx. IMO the 260 isn't going to be THAT much faster than your 8800GTX, and it would be dumb to buy an outdated card.

If your board can take a q9550 you would probably see a nice performance increase as well.

Sorry for coming across like an ass before.

When i said half the speed I meant in games the 275 is usually well behind the 470 in fps. The 470 is actually faster than the 285 by a decent amount.

As far as the 260, I would have to agree with Maverick, buying an older generation card at this point is pretty much a waste. Either the 470 now or the 460 in June will be your best bets.

But we all figured that by now.

OP - did you say 70FPS for the 8800GTX in BFBC2 because it felt smooth or what? As far as getting an 470/480 - I clicked on the thread thinking it would be about 5850/5870.

Have you thought about a 5850?

It is just me, or is there only about 10% max difference between say, the 5850 and the 470? (In FPS, not power that is

)

Wouldn't the 470 be able to handle physx itself though better than what the 8800GTX dedicated could?
