That's a bit strange. I'm using the 197.41 drivers. A guy on another forum with an i7 920 clocked at 3.8ghz, and he's able to get 50.1 fps with 8xAA. And he's not OC his cards much.

With the 197.41's my last two runs were 49.9 with 8xAA and 480's in SLI @ stock. I have an i7 920 @ 3.6.

47c. I tried overclocking but hit temps of 97c just going from 0.962v from 0.950v. I probably got one of the hotter cards I guess. Scythe fans spin at 1200rpm moving 49cfm, but air filters reduce air flow some. With the case door open and the filters taken out furmark full load temps dropped from 92c to 86c. But dust is evil and the dust filters are worth the higher temps imo. |

Well, I finally pulled the trigger.
After seeing all of the awesome overclocking results with the 470s after making some voltage adjustments with MSI Afterburner, I started to keep my eyes open for some nice deals. ... and then I found this: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthr...3546&t=2001998 $339 for an EVGA GTX 470 from mwave if you have a membership. Well, I just bought a package of dirt cheap SATA cables from them a couple weeks ago and started a membership at that time. On top of all that, I got a $10 off $100 coupon when I started the membership. So, I just got an EVGA GTX 470 for $329 shipped. ![]() I should be able to get around $150 for my 260 on ebay, so I can more than double my graphics performance for a difference of $180. Not bad at all IMO. It should go very nicely with the low profile GTS 250 I just bought for a Physx card. Can't wait to get my card! ![]()

Depending on the game it performs like the 5850 or 5870. When overclocked though it can just about match the 480. Its not a great buy at $380... but at $330 it definitely is.
I think if I had a little bit more money coming in and I knew my PSU and case could handle it, I would have gone with a 480 since they get an INSANE performance boost from overclocking... but for now, I think the 470 is just a better choice for me. I don't even have an 8 pin PCI-E power connector so the likelihood of being able to really push a GTX 480 is pretty low.

I can manage 49.7 FPS @ 1920x using extreme tessellation 8xAA|16xAF.
![]() I was hoping for more and that's going to be about it on these clocks.
