I seem to remember reading something about an edit to a file somewhere that would tell Linux to not use the second GPU in a Hybrid SLI setup.
If I remember correctly, it was not ideal, because the second GPU would still be powered up, but Linux just wouldn't use it. Does anyone have any information on this? Under Windows with the second GPU off my Dell Studio XPS 13 (m1340) runs a good 20degrees Celsius cooler than in Linux. This causes the fan to always be on, the whole laptop to feel hot and dramatically decreases the battery life. Since I've lost 2 previous laptops to videocard overheating issues (which I believe were related to Linux), I'd like this new machine to stay stable! Any information would be helpful. Thanks. |
