And today there is still gtx 480 and a ton of 470's in stock. Either demand has dropped a ton or supply has increased a ton. Just a week ago you'd be lucky if they stayed in stock for more than a few hours.

That thing will be well over $600 with tax and yet I still desire ownership especially after suffering under the hands of my crippled 5870(functions) which only cost me $400 back in December.

IS the 480GTX really worth $160 more than a 5870?

captain, that's the canadian price for the superclocked. The most expensive american price for the gtx 480 at newegg.com (us site) is $540 for the evga superclocked.

They have the regular GTX 480 EVGA for $510 ,the superclock was $540,they still have the gigabyte for $500,and a MSI for $510.They have lots of GTX 470's for around $350.The GTX 470's looks pretty interesting when overclocked.The power draw does'nt go up as bad as I thought it would and when overclocked it can reach GTX 480's speeds,for a $150 less.I may build a special computer box and try out one of these GTX 470's.
