Not sure I would say that Mike lost his cool per se. It's kind of frustrating when your answer to a question is "X" and yet the question repeatedly gets asked.

I take from this that Mike had no intention for his preview to contain any hint of his own personal recommendations of one product over the other. So, if that's the way the man wants it to be then why can't people respect that fact and move on?

Hi Dan,

I didn't write this article with the intention of recommending one product over the other. Had I done so, it would have been necessary to do a thourough investigation into the additional features each of these graphics cards provide. My goal was to provide the reader with supplemental information on gameplay that I hope can be useful in making a purchasing decision.
That seems crystal clear to me, no?

Did you see any difference in Halo vrs the two? I have heard there were differences with the water. Keep in mind FX cards use mixed mode in halo. Just wondering as I don't have an FX myself. TY
Thanks. I'll be examing Halo in more detail and have fired off some questions to NVIDIA on the subject of mixed mode rendering.

So many things to do and not enough time I've been examining the quality of 8X AA under OGL, which looks nice and have found it to be usable.

I recorded a few in-game video clips from Call of Duty with 4X and 8X AA using FRAPS. I changed the cl_pitchspeed variable to 1 and panned upwards while facing a telephone pole. The video clearly shows the difference between 4X and 8X AA.

Absolutely. From my CoD demo walkthrough with the card overclocked to 518MHz/1.03GHz. 1024x768 with 8X AA and 2X AF.

Wow with 8X AA you are sometimes hitting above 60 fps as well. The lowest FPS is bad either hovering around 30ish. That is impressive.

How fast is it without any FSAA at those settings(1024X768, 2xAF)?

The lowest FPS during the walkthrough always occurred in this scene

Running my 5700U at 535/1.03, I am more than satisfied with it on this rig. It will do fine as a tide over til the NV40.

It puts up great image quality and more than playable frame rates in all the games I own, including Max Payne II...
