Just got the game, simple Q that I can't figure out, how do I know if the 1.02 patch installed properly? I see no version number listed anywhere.

Didn't they add mouse control for the menus in 1.02? But you also get Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427 (1967), Dodge Charger R/T (1969), Dodge Challenger R/T (1971), Shelby GT500 (1967) und Toyota Supra Mark IV (1998) with the 1.02 patch. Check your garage.

Strange, I have a mouse cursor available at all times. V1.0 had only keyboard control for the menus. Not sure why you can't access all cars in your garage.

Great game but the races are all rather short (2 laps) and very hard to get a feel for the track and the car in that short time period. Guess that's why they designed the game to allow you to redo the races as many times as you want. Really good game with mods. This is almost better than Forza3 now. ![]()

I took my daughter to Chuck-E-Cheese's last Saturday, and in the game room was the arcade version of NFS: Carbon. Well, I'll be damned if the General Lee, a '69 Charger, was one of the cars you could race with! So, I raced with that car mostly, and a few other cars, but mostly with the General. It was one of those games that you sit in a seat, with a wheel, stick-shift, gas & brake pedals, and a nitrous pedal. It also had buttons for view and nitrous. I won every race I played, even on the hard difficulty.
The last race I ran, I was right behind the leader, and just before we got to the finish line, I hit that nitrous and held it, hit the jump, and went sailing OVER the leader FTW! By that time, I had drawn a small crowd, and everyone got a kick out of that. When asked how long I had been playing the game, I said 'This is my first time'. GENERAL LEE FTmfW! ![]() |

So a little late to the party, but just got Shift, using with Freetrack and Shift: Camera Control for head tracking. Finishing up the Tier 2 races using the super light Lotus Elise. (Which is basically, get in the lead or die trying due to the aggressive AI)
Already bought my Lamborghini Murcialago, love that car. Started with a Scion tC just because. overall, I'm loving this game. It's my first "Sim" racer, and I count it as a good transitional racer from arcade to sim. (I tried GT4, and hated it with a passion. The handeling on that was absoluty terrible. I tried driving a 1960s stingray in that game, and slid everywhere, had zero traction, like driving on ice with all cars. I've spent enough time in that car to know how it should handle, and it isn't like that!) This however, feels about right while driving, I know a few people here say the traction is a bit sticky yet, but I haven't gotten that at all, it behaves about like I expect from a far to handle, close enough that it's still fun and not arcady like previous generations of NFS at least. Basically using NFS:S for all my on road wants, and Dirt 2 for my offroad kicks. (And Dirt 2 is very arcady, but fun!)

Shift can be pretty cool, but the AI is ****ing ****. And hay, Dirt 2 is more "realistic" than Dirt. It's not too acrady either, I think.

Started replaying this. Turning ABS only on seems to fix the Sharp mod spin rear end under braking entering turns pretty nicely. Still much prefer Forza 3 by far. Just can't get the controls to feel and behave properly in Shift.
Hope Shift2 is more sim but with Criterion behind it I'm betting it will be more arcade. ![]()
