Yeah, I don't want to sound alarmist.
It's probably some bad luck (it often happens to me).

But just for the sake of the study, it would be interesting if other users could try running a 3D demo for 12-20hrs long with their GTX 480, ... and report about the results they get (stability-wise).

a 3d app hanging doesnt mean a dead card, could be driver's, user error, power supply etc etc.
If you have a crappy ps or some other issue then worry about that first.
This thread makes me laugh every time i see it

And how did we go from 2 dead cards to 5 i only see 2 listed in here...

And this is the only dead one ive heard of from all the forums i read.

Yes if they're designed to be running 3D demos for hours until poor airflow makes the card die

Tempting fate I mean, we already know they're hot. A card might run games faultlessly for years but fail a stress-test. Then you know it fails a stress-test and four hundred quid up the Swanee
