GTX 480 fan is NOT LOUD! What's up with these reviewers?

My stock 470 runs a lot better with custom fan profile, too. Got it running at 65%. No louder than my what my 8800s were. Never seen it get higher than 78C when playing games like Crysis. Temps in most other games are high 60s/low 70s.

Those settings worked will with my system and I would recommend it over the default setting. Give it a go and see how well is does for you and report back. You might end up tweaking it here and there.

Both AS5 and ceramiaue are outdated, and you should not use AS5 on anything other than CPU as it's conductive. MX-2 or MX-3 from Arctic Cooling is much better.

I have my afterburner set to 50/50, 60/60, 70/70 ETC. and it never gets above 70C or 60% fan playing BC2. Defenitly kicks BUTT!! At 100% fan, manually set, it is the loudest thing I have ver heard, CRAZY!!

Ya it works perfect! The temp matches the fan speed so if the card is at 62C the fan is at 62% I have noticed, kinda cool.

I just set mine up exactly the same way. Just got this card and have to say the fan is much less annoying than the 4870's fan, even at higher speeds.

Not near as warm a card as I feared either. But looking at the settings afterburner is showing...I may still have some configuring to do.

This was taken with the fan still on auto btw.

You need to use the beta version of afterburner so your clocks read right! Pretty sure if your core clock was at 1674 your card would have blew up by now!!! 1.6.0 beta 5
