Default Hybrid Graphics - will it work

Hi,

Can any one confirm whether or not Nvidia drivers will will work with a laptop with a hybryd graphics ?

I just ordered a Sony Z11 which has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M 1GB, and Intel graphics, now I'm getting concerned that perhaps it won't work with Linux.

I'm not too bothered about swapping between the two cards as long as I just use the Nvidia card.

Thanks

My ASUS UL50VT with Intel + G210M doesn't work for me. So I went back to my old HP laptop with ATI 9600M working really well.

Please search.

The open source ATI driver has primitive support for live card switching. Nothing user-friendly yet though.

I have the Z1190, and the hybrid graphics are a bit of a problem for linux. The new Intel Arrandale graphics are not supported by any available distro yet, so the only way to get the laptop to work is to keep it in 'speed' mode. I couldn't get Fedora 12 or Fedora 13 Alpha 1 to work properly, and Ubuntu 10.04 Beta floundered as well. I am currently running on Ubuntu 9.10, and the only thing I haven't gotten to work is the backlight adjustment. Neither the sony-laptop, the nvidia-bl, nor the acpi video modules do anything for me. One tip, if when booting, the trackpad doesn't work, pass the 'i8042.nopnp' option to your kernel.

Hi all, if you have a laptop with hybrid graphics please try this howTo (http://asusm51ta-with-linux.blogspot.com/). Try it and post your results at hybrid-graphics-linux@lists.launchpad.net. Thanks.
This howTo should work with other distributions.
