Default Any plans for >2048 pixel vdpau?

Using -vo vdpau seems to work with resolutions over 2048x2048 but using -vc ffh264vdpau I just get:

Code:
Movie-Aspect is 1.78:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.
VO: [vdpau] 3840x2160 => 3840x2160 H.264 VDPAU acceleration
[vdpau] Failed creating VDPAU decoder: The size of a supplied object does not match the object it is being used with.
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver.
[h264_vdpau @ 0xbebe40]decoding to PIX_FMT_NONE is not supported.
[h264_vdpau @ 0xbebe40]decode_slice_header error
[h264_vdpau @ 0xbebe40]no frame!
Error while decoding frame!
[VD_FFMPEG] Trying pixfmt=0.

Over and over. I was wondering if this is an actual hardware limitation or there were plans to ever support higher resolutions. I have some 2160p files I would love to see play in realtime but my only options now are regular CPU decoding which gives me about 4 or 5 fps on a h264 file. I would love to see these play in realtime as I would think my gtx 260 could handle it if it would do it but maybe I am wrong.

2048x2048 is the current HW limit.

Out of curiosity, where do you get 2160p content/files from?

My guess is that it's an encode from the sources at: ftp://vqeg.its.bldrdoc.gov/HDTV/SVT_MultiFormat/

Check the 2160p50_CgrLevels_Master_SVTdec05_ folder (one image per frame). There are x264 encodes of the videos floating around...
