Yep, you and the other morons who put the card in a computer that's jam-packed and don't have good air floor, then make dumb threads that say "reliability study"...

That is stupid...make sure you are doing everything to make the card run optimally, that means have some space, and put a fan on it. This card is 500 bucks for a reason, people that KNOW what they are doing should buy these.

Are you sure it's the cards themselves that are the problem, what if you have a funky PSU that's working them over? Or maybe you don't have solid power going to your computer, maybe you need a special power strip AND PSU????

Cmon dude, reliability study, I'm sure Nv has something, have you contacted your vendor/nvidia through email about this?

I'm calling BS. What are your computer specs? This is the second time you've come here claiming that your GTX 480 is dead. Show us your hardware specs.

The OP posted this crap here, and when he didn't get the response he wanted he posted the same thing in the Evga boards, and now he's back with yet another dead 480 post.

I call BS as well. The chances of him getting three bad 480's in a row are next to impossible. If he really has had three of them go bad (in the exact same way no less) in the last month it's a problem with something else in his system that's causing his issues.

Furthermore, who starts a reliability study over one dead card? What's your agenda OzoZoz?

I have a GTX 480, that works in everything, but when I run the hardware PhysX level lighthouse physx in Unreal Tournament 3, it gets like a slideshow. Is there something wrong with the card? It would sometimes run bad on the old card, a gtx 295, but never this slow. Its like its in slow motion. UT3 in regular (non PhysX) levels runs great.

It could be drivers. What version are you using. For me the lighthouse map is super smooth even maxed in 3D and PhysX enabled.

Thanks, I will try a few different driver revisions and see if it corrects the issue. I am using 197.75.

It seems that this last card was my mistake.
I used NVAPI to stop the card from doing Clock Throttling, and for some reason, after some time it started to show important stability problems. After I reverted to using the control panel instead, things fell back into place. So we can ignore that last dead card. I'll edit my previous post for tracking purposes.

The high confidence most of you have in your card is good sign; Hopefully my dead card was just bad luck.

Note : The dead card was with a Thermaltake 1200W PSU, which always went strong.

Do you think a weak PSU could be responsible for a dead card? Are you thinking of bad voltage regulation (bad surge immunity) or more about voltage dropping under load?

Would you assume that a graphics card is more vulnerable to a bad PSU than other parts of the computer (ex: motherboard)?
