Yep, a new case and an SSD are my next purchases.

Have no idea what prices will be like in a couple of months - looking forward to it.

I've decided to hold off on the purchase of a 480. my 2x285's are plenty of enough power. I may get a 480 later, but for now, I'm good to go.

I appreciate the offer sat - I do need a bit larger and am hoping to buy only once. Thank you anyway though.

Plus I really hope Intel will move over to SATA3 (your new board already supports that AFAIK) and improve overall performance to overtake the SandForce controllers again.

In my opinion, buying an SSD right now is not the best idea... All because of the upcoming G3s.

I had the same thoughts, I didn't know G3 was coming this soon though. Was originally planning on next year, then August or so after reading a bit here - now you have me waiting on G3s Definitely worth waiting for the benchmarks then...

I think most advancements in ssd's will come in capacity and price/gb. The upgrade from hdd -> ssd was way larger than it will be from ssd -> ssd. Thats why I'm planning on buying one of the sub 100$ drives and use it for just my os and apps and wait for larger drives.

I posted this in the owners thread of the Rampage III hoping to get some feedback.

Having a little bit of an issue it doesnt seem to be a performance issu but I wanted to check with the owners.

I have a couple of question I need help in finding a solution please.

This is my first time using an SSD drive the install went (Intel 80GB) fine and it seems all is well did a quick CrystalMark and my result are in line.

I installed the Intel toolbox and I get an error not connecting to drive the unusually part is it was working fine for a day or so now its not.

The other think that seems a little strange is in the Intel Rapid storage software that is included with the driver if I look at the status screen it shows my CD BD rom drives but it does not show my SSD drive.

for SSD to function correctly and be visible in those tools, board should be set to AHCI mode.

Yeah......I installed it in ACHI mode when I did the fresh Win 7 install.
I just dont get why it doesnt allow me to use the Intel Optimizer its grayed out , it was working fine a day ago. bah
