It wouldn't make sense for them to put a lot of effort into producing a card that was slower than the 5970, so it will most likely trade blows with it, just so they can claim to be the fastest dual-GPU card available at least part of the time.
Doesn't matter to me either way though. I don't do SLI, even if its on one card... and I cannot imagine the amount of heat and noise this card would generate. I can barely stand my overclocked 470. The fan gets so loud that its actually kind of funny. ![]()

Far too little, too late IMO.
I've already opted to go with a 5770 as is. I don't see the GTX4xx going down in history very favorably tbh... Maybe the GTX5 series... I think that will be the impressive one, with the following gen even better. For now though... ATi is where it's at IMO. |

Interesting. I guess even though the card is supposed to use two 150W GF104 cores, it will require two 8-pin PCIe power connectors, more than likely because the 300W limitation is just too close and they didn't want to further hinder performance of the GF104 cores or kill the overclocking potential.
Come on DarthBeavis take your green glasses off and you have to admit the lack of efficiency and inability to totally blow the ATI cards out of the water has been a little disappointing. They have had fairly warm reviews but nothing like when the GeForce 8 series came out. I admit the major success for the GeForce 400 cards seems to be great SLI scaling. I hope they continue that trend while keeping the drivers working well. My SLI experience with 8800s was pretty bad, but it sounds like major improvements have been made. |

I have yet to see benchmarks obviously.... but at 375W TDP I doubt this is going to go over well.
Isn't the pci-express specification for only 300W per pci-express slot as an absolute maximum...? At 375 this should be on 2x8pin pci-e power cables.... sounds kind of stupid...

I don't get where people who do not own the 400 series get the right to say things like "their new piece of crap just cope *came* out and they are hot enough to melt the Antarctica."I have 2 480's now and had 2 285's before this ,the 480's idol at a higher temp.1st 480 card is at 58C and 2nd is at 56C atm whereas the 285's idoled in the high 40's to low 50's but the highest temp I have seen from my 480's thus far is 86C while I regularly saw temps in the low 90's from the 285 after a good long gaming session.

![]() Don't own the 5770 yet... still shopping around. Still rocking my trusty dual 8800GTXs. ![]() Simply going off of performance per watt and dollar spent. It'll cost me more in the long run to power and cool *any* GTX400 series card, than it would an HD5xxx series card. Looking for the over-all most effecient card, and nothing from nvidia seems to be remotely efficient. Just brute power. Kinda' like have a V10 instead of a V6 diesel. I'll take the diesel. ![]() |
