But apparently PC gamers aren't any better. That ridiculous Modern Warfare 2 DLC/Mappack was the top seller on Steam
Agreed.

Most DLC is stupid.

The 1st and 2nd DLC's for Borderlands for example were sort of useless in hindsight. The 3rd one was AMAZING and totally made up for the first 2.

TDU, on the flipside, on the PC, had 1 content pack and it was pure awesomeness and well worth the money.

It is hit and miss but, MW seems to be the prime culprit in setting ridiculous trends. And fortunately for IW, there are enough people gullible enough to go for it.

Eh I am in the middle. I loved the 1st and 3rd DLC for Borderlands. Yes there are some stupid DLC stuff out there but things like the Zombie for WoW was a great idea and really added stuff to the game. Now I know you can mod or make custom maps on PC but in regards to consoles its a great thing to expand the replayability of a title, problem is companies like Activision gouging the prices... $15 for 5 maps and no new modes/gameplay is stupid.

I hope they release 1 or 2 more DLCs for Borderlands though... maybe something that is more random so you can play it infinitly.

Fixe

That's where it's really starting to get annoying. It's one thing to offer mappacks, but they also took away the ability for people to create their own.

Smart business and I'm surprised it took them this long to do this on consoles.

Well the theory is it isn't like a demo we get these days... more like an episode of content to tease you.

As I was adding games to my Gamefly queue, an interesting thought struck me. If this is the future then what happens to game rentals. Wouldnt those fall under the secondhand market. Except maybe the first guy that manages to rent a particular game.

For someone like me, that relies on gamefly and blockbuster's free game rental coupons, and buys maybe 2-3 games a year, this trend will totally screw me over

Well the publishers want you to stop that, so of course they will screw it up.

so they claim, as time goes by "episodes" will get smaller, and price will grow.
