Hi guys,
I got a situation that one 22" monitor and one rotated 90 degree 17" monitor are connected to a 9500GT display card. My computer have just be installed RedHat Enterprise 6.0 Beta (Santiago), X Window is working fine -application can be dragged between this two screens. However, after installing NVidia driver (version 195.36.24), I found the screen of the 17" monitor cannot be rotated in Twinview mode - Redhat treat them as one screen, and "option rotate left" rotated whole screen. In separate X screen mode, my screen of the 17" monitor can be rotated 90 degree, and keep 0 degree for the 22" monitor, but applications cannot be dragged between this two screens. Did anyone have the experience to enable "Twinview" + "rotated one monitor" in Linux? BTW, "Desktop Effects" cannot be turned on even this driver was installed. Do you have idea too? You could have reference my xorg.conf: Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" 1680 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" Option "Xinerama" "0" EndSection Section "Files" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from default Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # generated from data in "/etc/sysconfig/keyboard" Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "keyboard" Option "XkbLayout" "us" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" EndSection Section "Monitor" # HorizSync source: edid, VertRefresh source: edid Identifier "Monitor1" VendorName "Unknown" ModelName "Philips 170B2" HorizSync 30.0 - 82.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 76.0 Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Monitor" # HorizSync source: edid, VertRefresh source: edid Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Unknown" ModelName "AOC 2217" HorizSync 31.0 - 80.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 75.0 Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Device1" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BoardName "GeForce 9500 GT" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Screen 1 Option "Rotate" "Left" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BoardName "GeForce 9500 GT" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen1" Device "Device1" Monitor "Monitor1" DefaultDepth 24 Option "TwinView" "0" Option "metamodes" "DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +0+0" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Device0" Monitor "Monitor0" DefaultDepth 24 Option "TwinView" "0" Option "metamodes" "DFP-0: nvidia-auto-select +0+0" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Thanks! |

Hi Adam,
Therefore I can only use original driver (come from Redhat), and enjoy "dragging app between two monitor" and "rotating one monitor"? |

I'm not sure what the "original" driver is capable of, only that the nvidia driver can not do what you want.

Separate X screens + Xinerama will allow you to rotate monitors individually, and move windows between monitors.
