The Ubuntu X team is posting latest betas of nvidia within a day after their release so this makes it far easier to run latest nvidia drivers. https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates |

Yes do that grey_1, in case you need to get the latest, this is the easiest way and even wiith kernel updates, DKMS builds it automatically on next boot.

I would like to see it in action. I bet the whole linux credo "everything is a file" would really pay off on an SSD.
Still, I'm sticking with Debian because they are the stability "nazis". I can attest to that with 2 month+ uptimes. Only reboot for kernel updates. |

Hey guys - I'm looking for a good guide to making certain a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 is secure, something aimed at a reasonably proficient, self taught enthusiast, not a pro.
There are too many out there for me to choose with my experience level. Thanks in advance! |

Best of all that ppa has the latest mesa dri so you won't get slower benchmarks as the phoronix got when they tested with the older mesa dri versus Fedora's latest.

After I borked my OS X install on my MSI Wind netbook, I decided to throw 10.04 back on it. My family and I used it all morning during my wife's surgery and it lasted 8 hours on full brightness and wifi going full blast. Wow.

Its amazing how little resources linux uses vs. windows Vista/7. My linux box has nearly 3x the processes running, and using less than half the RAM my windows box...
Heh, I just checked and my FEAR server has 6 people in it. |
