I cannot get this monitor to give me stereo ('3D') vision.
I successfully managed to get 3D working on a Samsung 1680x1050_120 using "Stereo" "option" "10". However, using this option simply fuzzes the screen on this monitor. The stereo option '3' seems to get closest to the mark. In this mode, nvidia-settings gives several suitable stereo GLX visuals. However, when it goes into stereo mode, it seems to be displaying left and right images on non-synchronised scans, such that the image jitters side-to-side. It certainly doesn't give a stereo view. In a desperate attempt to win, I've noe tried all stereo integer options up to 11. The Nvidia documentation only describes options up to 6, so it is obviously guesswork here. I also tried the Option "AllowDFPStereo" "on" with stereo option 3 - no improvement though. Anyone have any clues? ![]() We are using SLES10.2 and NVidia driver 195.36.15 and Geforce 3DVision kit with DIN cable direct off the board. |

you will never do on Linux unless you have a Quadro-type card
for Geforce ones stick with Windows 7 or Vista basically Geforce cards can do 3D with the nVidia driver only on DirectX applications on Windows, nVidia restricts it like this so that they can sell the Quadro cards for workstations with Windows/Linux OpenGL 3D rendering apps and such in Windows one could bypass this with the new TriDef DDD driver (well until nVidia blocks it anyway) |

We do have quadro type cards - FX3700. Forgot to mention that.
Anyway, I'm pleased to say that this is working now. I switched back to using the stereo option 10 and fiddled elsewhere in the xorg.conf (has to be said - I'm not entirely sure where?) - and hey presto, it works. Thanks for replying though. |

Stereo Mode 10 should work with the Alienware AW2310, a supported card, and the GeForce 3DVision kit + DIN cable.
However, there's currently a bug that prevents the display from actually getting 120 Hz. If you set 120 Hz with this configuration you'll actually get 100 Hz. This will be fixed in the next released 256.xx driver. (The 256.29 beta driver does not have this fix.) |

Hi Danix,
do you know whether this bug might also affect the Acer GD235HZ (which is the other currently available 120 Hz-FullHD display)? We see terrible and regular tearing on that display at 120 Hz, which indicates something is wrong with the synchronization - under Windows, we don't have that problem, and 120 Hz displays with lower resolution are working fine under Linux as well. Thanks! Michael |

I'm also curious if the new driver will fix the sync problem with the 12hz Acer??
OP can you post your xorg.conf? |

Btw. In both modes the logo is white/red for a short time while booting. Any help to make this work would be awesome! Thanks and best, Michael OS: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 3 19:31:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux |

Stereo works for me but it's a bit flickery at 100Hz. |

I think the USB emitter can't currently be detected correctly on certain distros; I'm not sure if Ubuntu Lucid is one of those. |

I don't really know what I changed but now the emitter light turns from red/white to green during the boot process every time. One thing changed is that I have decreased the plugged in usb devices from 6 to 3 (emitter, keyboard, mouse) during start-up. |
