Gaco- if the title they released with the Source engine were CS:S source instead of HL2, do you really think the engine would have caught on like it did?

No. HL2 is what made the Source engine so successful.

Let's remember that the point of Source was incremental updates rather than a Source 2. To change that plan, something would have to spur it on... and frankly, nothing right now is doing that. Console tech will be the same for at least another 2-3 years and PC gamers do not upgrade as much as we enthusiasts do.

What would be a reason for a Source 2?

If I can get face time with a Valve team member at E3, I'll try to press them, but I doubt they will give anything up as to HL3 if they don't announce it there...

valve could never realease a truly leading-edge engine because whatever they produce will always take 2-3 years longer than competing engines that start production at the same time.

Doom 3 was far better looking in terms of lighting effects etc than Half Life 2.

I would rather news on Ep 3 than Portal. I enjoyed Portal no doubt but I don't think it's the next coming on jesus.

I would still be disappointed if nothing about Half-life is said during E3. There were quite a few disappointed last year when L4D2 was all they talked about, I suspect the reaction will be stronger this time.

If they have an excuse for the delay then just throw us a bone.

They should integrate Portal 2 and HL3, or something of that nature. I would of LOVED Portal in the HL universe, that would of been the game of a century right there!

Puzzles, weapons, and crowbars along with being able to make portals where needed. How bomb would that game be!? Minus the portals it almost sounds like HL1...what a great game! CMON BLACK MESA..HURRY UP!!!!

portal's lab/centre was created by Aperture science who also had a ship called the borealis and it was mentioned about by Mossman in EP2 i think it was, Aperture and Black mesa were rivals

I would rather see a new HL game with the new engine, than Ep3. Roll whatever Ep3 was going to be into HL3. HL2 is a 2004 game, we need a new title, not just more 6 year old engine "Episodes". I loved Portal, so I'm looking forward to Portal 2.
