Dethklok Returns!
|
I am running Debian 6.0 (Squeeze) and did an update today. Kernel is now at 2.6.32-5-686. Never had issues installing the nvidia driver before.
Heres the System: Asus A8N32-SLI Athlon64 4000 1MB 1GB DDR400 eVGA GeForce 6600 It errors out when building the kernel module, saying nvidia.ko cannot be loaded. Heres the log file: http://ngzroot.ath.cx/nvlog.txt |

Nouveau and nvidia together will never work!
So blacklist nouveau, add modeset=0 at your kernel-commandline, try building again. |

Okay, added modeset=0 to /boot/grub/grub.cfg and blacklisted nouveau in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf... And...
It worked! Thanks dude Also, tried to remove nouveau and it wanted to remove xserver-xorg-video-all, guess I have to keep it there. I know those are just video drivers, but I would like to keep them there just in case. |

Don't modyfy /boot/grub/grub.cfg by hand! It will be overwrite with the next kernel-update.
Changes must be made in /etc/default/grub and after that, update-grub. |

Okay, made the changes there as well and ran update-grub. Nothing was messed up so were good
