Keep on topic. Thanks.

Nice mini-review, Saz.

I'll still keep my HTC Pure, kthxbai.

I have absolutely no problem if a thread goes a little OT, Betterdan, as long as it comes back. I wasn't scolding anyone by any means, I merely steered it back in the right direction.

...

Saz, one thing I really wish for (and it appears you got it with this Iphone 4g) is better signal consistency. I really wish I could play Slacker radio with the phone hooked to bluetooth in my car, but in my area I can't... it gets through 3/4 of a song and then it pauses for a dang minute.

Maybe if I lived in a more densely populated area, like right IN Rochester like de><ta.

Rage, the signal quality is noticeably better.

By the way, I was able to duplicate that signal loss issue but I had to wrap both hands around the phone and make absolutely sure I had them in the exact spots as on the clips online. It never went completely out though so it appears as though while there is an issue, YMMV.

Also, I have the black bumper coming, primarily to provide a little lift/protection for the rear glass, and I'll see how that helps.

I haven't used slacker in a while, but Pandora is not buttery smooth.

I heard on the radio the other day, that the reception for the iPhone 4 might not be so great. Essentially it launched, many bought, but the calls into customer support also grew exponentially. The biggest complaints were loss of signal strength and dropped calls. There was mention of discoloration appearing on the screens as well, along with horrendous queues at the call centers dealing with technical support complaints, or in the case below, getting constantly put on hold.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/06/2...-quarrels.html

[quote]Christian Ortiz of Davie was among the many who got his preordered iPhone 4 on Wednesday through the mail. But within an hour, he noticed yellow discoloration on the bottom and sides of his screen -- a widespread issue being reported across the country.

``It deflated my excitement a bit, but I'm still onboard,'' Ortiz said. ``They have to take care of this 'cause I'm paying a premium for a premium product.''

Ortiz said he called Apple's customer service Wednesday night but got tired of being put on hold, so he hung up and planned to try again later.[quote]

Has some other mentions. But generally when driving home here in Jersey, the local radio was picking this up, and having a discussion on it, where users got to call in, etc

come on, give me an opportunity to explain what's inherently wrong with cold calling land lines about mobile phone usage. freaking apple tards, they pump so much **** without telling customers that the smallest percentage of it is actually true.
I don't put much stock in Neilson. I just loved it when I heard that homes selected for the Nielson boxes which sample for everyone else, tend to be homes with the easier install (1 TV homes). This in spite of the fact that statistics show, most American homes are not 1 TV homes. It'd be like asking 1 car families which brand of gas they prefer, even though husband and wife don't tend to share the car, and they might each visit a different station.

Ah well, they perhaps figure all hadn't heard of representative sampling and figure that if a number is presented, some won't question if the people being sampled are typical of the group they're supposed to represent or not. And yes, on cell phones, I do know people who have dropped their land line provider altogether, and use a cell phone only.
