Thanks! I'm using a Black Ice Xtreme. After an hour of L4D 2 last night it hit a max of 58C (according to Afterburner) at my overclocked settings of 850/1700/2100 so I'm happy with that. Tonight I'll see how warm Crysis gets it, haha.

Hows the card working out for u? I got a similar configuration and I have the zotac card on its way here. Worried abt the cpu bottlenecking the card. Have you tried gaming at 1920 x 1200?

I just have a 22 inch screen so that res isn't supported,i also use XP atm so i can just compare dx9.With my CPU at 3.6 it performs just slightly faster than the 285 did with the cpu at 3.8.Getting a Q9650 at the end of the month along with win 7 64 bit,i also have a feeling i'm cpu limited.I'm very happy with the card though, running it at a constant 60% fanspeed with MSI afterburner and it's a lot less noisy than i was led to belive.Sofar i've yet to se temps over 85 c at full load and thats at a 25c+ ambient temp, idling at 48c.

By the way i have the core running at 750 and a ram 1700. It will run at 800 with a little voltage bump with Msi afterburner. Not finished tweaking yet . These thing run cooler than i was led to believe. |

just got a dell u2410 now with my 480gtx SC.
my 2 cents only but i still don't get all the reviews about heat and noise issue. I played crysis at 19x12 with 4xaa for over and hour. it's 34c outside and 25 in my apartment and i could not get the card to reach over 85c. monitoring with everst ultimate with my G15 keyboard. my GTX280 got hotter than this one. my rant for the day. ohh and i can't believe i waited this long to get a 24inch monitor. i'm running HDMI 1.4cable mini to standard and it's going good so far.

I juggled and I juggled between a GTX 480 and a HD5870. Finally decided to plunge deep and grab an Asus GTX 480.
Sure it runs a lot hotter than GTX 260 but surprisingly, it's not that much more noisier. Guess I need to fiddle around fan speeds to make it slightly cooler but a bit noisier. I really don't know which would be the best tradeoff. ![]()

Finally picked up a EVGA GTX 480 from Microcenter. It even had a $30 rebate until 8/1/10. This card is fast!
Idle temps are around 40 and it's just as loud (or quiet) as my 285. I do notice the fan ramp up during a heavy GPU game, but it's not that loud at all. I have an Antec side 120MM fan in my Antec 900 drawing in air and blowing right on it. I put my hand behind it and it's pretty toasty back there. ![]() My bios is: 70.00.21.00.80 which seems to be the norm. |
