GTX 460 SLi is really amazing at the highest resolution 2560x1600 4xAA, it gave HD 5970 2GB & 4GB a run of money regardless or not HD 5970 still considerably faster than GTX 460 SLI. I found the cheapest OEM GTX 460 card at £140 within HD 5770 price range and we probably will see the price will coming down next month or two when supply is improve. Can you imagine getting £200 GTX 460 SLi for xmas?
![]() Are HD 5970 2GB for £529 and 4GB for £829 justified? Certainly not! Whose people who bought HD 5970 4GB cards last month must be absolutely livid and sick as dog after read GTX 460 SLi reviews.

The GTX480 can easily offer and exceed the first requirement but fails miserably at the last two. Same with all but the GTX460 it appears. I'm still leaning towards the HD5850 but this GTX460 really has my attention. |

The 8800GTX SLI was nice, but the power management on the newer cards should make a difference not only for the electric bill, but how hot your room is. As a side note I wouldn't be surprised if you see some price drops on both sides in the near future. |

Considering how competitively priced these are, I wouldn't expect the price to move for a while until ATI lowers its prices.

I'd sure like to see some SLI 460 vs 465 benches.

Sorry to say but this is not that impressive. Dual gtx275's/280's/285's are faster. And cheaper is purchased via the used market. Yes, I know there is no dx11 in the latter, but nothing of great interest uses dx11 anyhow IMHO.

For one that type of thing almost always happens when you compare a used version of a top end enthusiast card from an older generation to a performance card from the new generation. But I still disagree that it's not a good value compared to that. For the most part the 460 is faster than the 280 and performs just as good as the 285 or better. A used card is still going to run you around $200 I'd guess and you won't have the warranty. Like you said you also won't have DX11. And also the 280/285 consume more power and produce more heat. And how can you compare dual 280/285s to this card? You definitely won't end up getting two of them for $200. And if you had dual 285's in the first place you were likely not waiting around for a performance card. More than likely ended up getting dual 480s or 470s.

it always happens in the PC market that something newer and better comes out that takes the luster off of the older hardware. even if you have dual 480s or a 5970 IMHO the 460 is unbeatable WRT heat and noise. not that those setups are bad or anything, they've just had some of the sheen taken off their paint.
but one day (perhaps with ATIs coming refresh) something even better than 460 will come out. c'est la vie. |

lol that'd definitely give me a reason to get an AMD SLI board and an x6 1055T or 1090T.
