Not very much... too fast paced and crazy for me I think, and there seems to be no assault rifle mid-range zoom class, which is what I like.

I think you are missing the point of TEAM fortress and the various classes

I'm fine with working in a team, I love BC2 for that among other things. I just am not as effective without an assault rifle.

I felt the same at the start but you can clearly see why they can't have an assault rifle class. Assault rifles are too all round good at everything. TF2 is about each class having their strengths and weaknesses and working together to make a strong team. It's really like a much more complex game of paper, rock, scissors, with each class having a class they are good against and one that's good against them. Working together with different classes you can cover those weaknesses and become one strong unit. Also, everyone needs to be at least capable at a few different classes, you team will sometimes need you to change as the game changes or others change class, so it's not about having only one class you like and sticking to it.

A good all round class would clearly ruin the game dynamics. Even if you hobble the health and of an assault rifle carrying class it would still be unfair... they have range, rate of fire and close range ability all with the one weapon - it's just too many advantages.
