iPhone 4 recall "inevitable" as PR experts call for action

From what I have read its real, and apple stock has taken a pretty big hit this week. I think that is why we are seeing this press conference.

If they do issue a recall price will drop again, and would be a good time to buy. I wish I had some monies to invest..

All modern smart phones have similar issues.
Apple's issue is moderately worse because the antenna is on the outside.
Apple's issue is moderately worse because of the way they handled it: Denial, Manufacturing cases before release to fix the issue and charging users $30 for it, Telling customers "You're holding it wrong", etc.
The media is blowing it out of proportion.

Well, we all know that Apple are in constant denial mode. If there is something wrong with your very popular phone, you better fix it quick.

Apple stocks plummet, so just keep on with the good work Apple.

There probably is an issue, but tbh it is getting blown out of proportion. Everyone I know with an iPhone 4 is very happy with it.

It's not like the thing is bricking. It's just a minor reduction in signal strength. In major cities AT&T's coverage is pretty good, and since I live in NYC it's not too big of a deal. However, in little rock Arkansas it might be an issue....

It IS a real problem and apparently from the various rumors, this was actually brought up by one of the engineers well before product finalization.

I think this is a case of form over function taken to an extreme.

Again, I do want to reiterate that I personally do not have any issues with my phone and it works well for me, much better than my old phone.

However, I have been able to duplicate the death grip and a couple of my friends have had issues with the proximity sensor issue that has also been brought up. The whole death grip issue is VERY easily reproducible. Apple released the 4.01 OS update today and it does nothing to resolve the issue, just moves the bars weighting (in decibels) so that your signal strength is more "accurate".

If there is a recall, I am all for it but I really don't want to be without a phone.

I go from 5 bars to "no signal found" when holding the phone "wrong".

How the hell is that a "minor" issue? That is a MAJOR design flaw.

Maybe I am mistaken here, but the PHONE part of the whole iPhone brand should probably work, right?

Re: NYC, from the various reports on Engadget and other sites, Apple reps themselves say there is about a 30% dropped call rate on iPhones. That, frankly, is pathetic.

My iPhone 4 works fine for me, but if I was one of those suffering, I would want a resolution.

I mean, I own the damn thing and I didn't think I would like the device this much, and I do. But I have seen the bad and I am not a sheep. Most people I know who have the phone do like it, but I have also had 2 friends take their in for issues and 1 of them continues to have proximity sensor issues. Every single person I have asked to test the death grip problem has been able to show signal loss.
