PhysX is DEFINITELY NOT FAKE. If you play games like Batman Arkham Asylum you can definitely notice the difference having a PhysX enabled game can make. It's just that PhysX has yet to take off with developers. Nvidia needs to get more developers to implement PhysX in their games. However, I'm not sure this will happen as developers seem loath to use PhysX.

italy, relax. have you made sure that you enabled physx in the games options menus? I am talking about the games themselves, not nvidia control panel.

Two, some of these guys think that their cpu is better for gaming physx than their video cards. I am of one to take as much stress away from my cpu as possible by having hardware acceleration for as much of my pc hardware as I can get. That means hardware acclerated physx too. Havok physics is good, but not hardware accelerated like nvidia's solution.I thought havok was amd/ati's consideration for hardware physics at one which hasn't happened.

Three, in nvidia control panel (italy, try to snapshot a picture of your nvidia control panel when choosing the sli, physx portion of it so we can see what you are doing) if you are using up to date drivers should allow you to choose what video card or cpu you want to use for physx in sli mode. One of the guys before me was trying to get you to look at that in this thread. There is also a option to auto select your video card for physx in nvidia control panel. What this means for auto select is that nvidia control panel randomly selects a video card to do physx in sli mode. So, if you didn't choose your video card in this area and left it auto select, your physx maybe offloaded to video card other than the 3rd. Another possibility is that like stated by others here is the evga has a software bug in it for the precision software that won't track gpu usage for a physx card. In other words, the graphics of yout game may look and feel better with physx enabled but evga precision won't show that anything is happening on that video card even in tri-sli because of the software bug. you might want to ask nvnews users what works to show physx usage in a different software package other than evga's precision.

fourth, how are you enjoying the top of the line mb. If you notice in my sig, I just recently got the same. I am loving it.

Italy, try and bump up the clock speed of the dedicated physx card by 1 mhz, then set it back to default through evga precision. It just needs a slight change in clock speed to fix the bug of it showing 0% usage, atleast that's what happend with the 9800 gtx I was using for physx.

I still want to see pics of this Uber rig with 3x GTX 480's. I mean, I want to believe you, but it's a little hard to seeing as most people on this forum limit themselves to 2x 470's, and sometimes 2x 480's.

Physx does indeed work. I've seen it enhance several games that I have, but it's not super noticeable unless you really watch for it. Sometimes, it even degrades performance in games like Mirror's Edge. That's the reason I don't like it. If it didn't have a performance hit at all, it would be a far better solution.

As regards to you saying that it's saying your GPU is doing no work, I'm not really surprised. When I'm watching an HD video on Windows Media Player, the processor is doing almost no work, but the GPU fluctuates between 5-11% usage. The video is being accelerated by the GPU, but based on video card temperatures, you'd never know it. The video card temperature rises 1C at most. The card is virtually idling. I have a feeling that Physx is the same way most of the time. It does work when needed, but idles otherwise.
