Well... I replaced my "old" EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX KO with an Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic today and my X-Server crashes - or rather - "hangs" whenever my GPU is supposed to do something (be it OpenGL, VDPAU or sometimes even "twinview").
My mouse moves then, but nothing else. I can only hit reset or shutdown my PC via the power-button (everything in the background is still working, so ACPI events are cought). I already mailed linux-bugs ![]() EDIT: Oh... Code:

I can also confirm that it does work with newest driver, albeit its not officially supported but it seems to be working. I haven't tried any linux games yet, but 2d seems to be working fine.

But you're right! Works almost perfect! TwinView and OpenGL are working BUT VDPAU is not ![]() And that's one of the main reasons I bought a new card. Well maybe the next upcoming driver will work again ![]() And BTW: With 256.35 PowerMizer uses the Performance Level 0 (NV Clock 25 MHz, Memory Clock 135 MHz). It seems to crash when changing Performance Levels. 195.36.31 starts at Performance Level 1 (NV Clock: 405 MHz, Memory Clock: 324 MHz). No crashes when switching. And when using TwinView, it alsways uses Performance Level 2. Same as Windows. Is Dual Monitoring this demanding that you have to use the highest Performance Level?

I'm using 256.35 and have no problems with TwinView. It's on the lowest performance level (50/135 on my card) most of the time (I don't use compositing in KDE).
I also didn't see crashes or freezes when using VDPAU or OpenGL (then it switches to higher performance levels without a problem). I'm using Fedora 13 and my card is a Palit GTX 460 Sonic. For VDPAU you can test http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=133465 |

I tried different Kernel-Options now (tried different xorg.conf-Options before) and nothing helps...
noapic nolapic acpi=off pci=nomsi pci=nommconfig... Still, my X-Server will hang... Well... Maybe I'll do some more intensive Testing on my weekend... But for now, nvidia-drivers-195.36.31 are working fine (except VDPAU, like I mentioned ).

Okay... Now I've done some more testing and logging.
Here are the results. For every Test-Case I will attach four files: 1. nvidia-bug-report from starting with normal running-script (tries to start gdm) 2. nvidia-bug-report from starting with startx -- -verbose 6 -logverbose 6 3. Xorg.0.log with the same conditions as 1 4. Xorg.0.log with the same conditions as 2 1. Current stable running nvidia-drivers-195.36.31. Kernel-Parameters: none (MSI, APIC and ACPI enabled) Crashes/Hangs: None 195.gdm.nvidia-bug-report.log.gz 195.startx.nvidia-bug-report.log.gz Xorg.0.log.195.gdm.log.gz Xorg.0.log.195.startx.log.gz
